This report describes and interprets a collection of faunal remains from the Posey Site (18CH281) in Charles County, Maryland. Twenty two soil samples from two prehistoric (Middle Archaic to Woodland) Native American sites in Broome County, New York, were submitted to the Fiske Center for palynological analysis. Within these samples, 72 taxa were identified, providing evidence of a changing landscape which was shaped by human land management strategies, including controlled burning and the intentional cultivation of maize (Zea mays) as a food crop.
