A brief description of the investigations, the project area, and the archaeological situation encountered is given.

The City of Tempe is widening the bridge and thet Salt River project (SRP), in conjunction with this construction, is putting a new 21-in. sewer line and a water line across the canal west of Priest Road. At the request of Judy Brunson, SRP archaeologist, Soil Systems, Inc. (SSI) monitored the excavation of the backhoe trench for the sewer line across the canal.
