POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 42UT668, UTAH VALLEY, UTAH

Summary

Samples from two test units at Site 42UT668 in central Utah were examined

for pollen and macrofloral remains. This open air site is defined by diagnostic

lithics. Lithic types and radiocarbon dates suggest that 42OT668 is a

nailtiocarpanent site with Late Archaic andFremont occupations, approximately 1880

to 1070 BP. Pollen and macrofloral analyses are used as an aid in identifying

subsistence activities and reconstructing local vegetation at the time of

occupation.
