MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF FOUR SAMPLES FROM SITES 5EP45 AND 5PE8, SOUTHEASTERN COLORADO

Summary

Four samples from Sites 5EP45 arxi 5PE8 were examined for macrofloral

remains. Both of these sites are located on the Fort Carson Military

Reservation, about 22 miles south of Colorado Springs, Colorado. One sample from

Site 5EP45 yielded a radiocarbon date of 2100 BP, suggesting a Late Archaic

occupation. Site 5PE8 appears to have been a raulticcxtponent site, with

ocxupations from the Late Archaic to Middle Ceramic, approximately 2430 to 860

BP. Macrofloral analysis will aid in identifying subsistence activities at this

site.
