Summary

Pollen samples from the modern environment were evaluated to provide

control for interpreting the pollen record associated with hearth 91-1 at Site

48YE380 in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. This hearth contained large

concentrations of charcoal, and yielded a radiocarbon age of 2020 + 50 BP.

Pollen samples were examined from soil outside the hearth, as well as from hearth

fill, to determine any subsistence activities carried out in this basin-shaped

hearth.
