POLLEN ANALYSIS AT THE LAKE ACWORTH SITE (9C045), NORTHWEST GEORGIA

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 1992

Summary

Three phytolith sanples were examined from two pit features and a large

post, possibly part of a palisade wall at the Lake Acworth site (9C045). The

Lake Acworth site appears to have been a small Mississippian village containing

a perimeter palisade wall. Phytolith analysis was undertaken to identify

phytoliths that might have been present through use or processing of plants as

food in the pits.
