MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF HEARTH FILL AT SITES 5GN210 AND 5GN218, CURECANTI NATIONAL RECREATION AREA, SOUTHWESTERN COLORADO

Summary

Three hearths were exposed at Sites 5GSI210 and 5GST218 in Curecanti National Recreation Area during digging operations for monitoring of a U.S. West line. Radiocarbon dates suggest an Early Archaic occupation at 5GN210, while Feature l at 5GN218 yielded an uncalibrated Protohistoric/Historic date of 170 + 60 BP. Fill from these disturbed hearths was sampled for macrofloral remains to provide subsistence information.
