POLLEN AND MACROBOTANICAL ANALYSES FOR THE CHALON INTERNATIONAL MAHUKONA PROJECT, LANDS OF KAPA'ANUI KDU, KAMANO, MAHUKONA, FIRST AND SECOND, HIHIU AND KAOMA, NORTH KONA, DISTRICT ISLAND OF HAWAI'I

Author(s): Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 1994

Summary

Fourteen pollen and macrofloral samples represent six sites and ten

features from the North Kohala area. Radiocarbon ages are not available to

assign dates to these agricultural outcrops, terraces, alignments, and

enclosures. Pollen and macrobotanic analysis was undertaken to identify any

possible cultigens recovered from the probable agricultural features examined.

In addition to possible cultigens, plants that might have been used medicinally

or as fuel were of interest.
