POLLEN ANALYSIS OF STRATIGRAPHIC SEDIMENTS, LIVING SURFACES, AND GROUNDSTONE AT 48SU1041, WYOMING

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 2000

Summary

Stratigraphic pollen samples were collected from sediments at 48SU1041, the Pine Creek

Site, to examine the past vegetation intermittently over the past approximately 4100 years. This

site is located at the base of the Wind River Mountains along the shores of Fremont Lake. In

addition, a piece of groundstone was washed to recover possible pollen and/or starch evidence

of use. Three pollen samples were examined from one feature and two living surfaces to provide

evidence of plant processing activities.
