POLLEN ANALYSIS FOR SECHIN ALTO AND TAUKACHI-KONKAN, CASMA VALLEY, PERU

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 2002

Summary

Excavations in the Casma Valley have been conducted for decades. Analysis of 20

pollen samples from the 2002 field season at Sechin Alto (C24) and Taukachi-Konkan (C23)

reflects a very small portion of the efforts, thus far, to understand the lives of people living in this

area. Evidence of Initial Period occupation was recovered. Pollen analysis was undertaken to

provide additional information about the local vegetation and plant use than has been visible

from the very extensive macrofloral record.
