Summary

Specific, pertinent information can be generated through a combination of

archaeoclimatic modeling and examination of close-interval stratigraphic pollen samples.

Although large trends, such as increased warmth and potential evapotranspiration, can be

postulated for large areas during the middle Holocene and fluctuating conditions can be

postulated for the past four thousand years, paleoenvironmental information for a specific

location is more appropriately available through a combination of point specific archaeoclimatic

modeling and close-interval stratigraphic pollen sampling. These models generate temperature

and precipitation graphs, as well as potential evapotranspiration and "march of precipitation"

graphs.
