MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF HEARTH/ROASTING PIT FILL FROM SITE 5DA2075, CENTRAL COLORADO

Summary

Fill from a prehistoric hearth or roasting pit at site 5DA2075 in Douglas County,

Colorado, was floated to recover macrofloral remains. This site is part of the Reuter-Hess

Reservoir Project. Charcoal from this feature yielded a conventional radiocarbon age of 1590 ±

40 BP (Beta-211597), with a two sigma calibrated age range of cal AD 400-560. Macrofloral

analysis will be used to determine plant resources utilized by the occupants of this site during

this time period.
