Summary

Site 32DU237 is located within the Knife River Flint primary source

area approximately 25-30 miles east of the Little Missouri Badlands. The

site is situated on the highest knob of a ridge top and the soil samples

were taken from the northern portion of the knob resulting in a total of 9

pollen and phytolith samples. Cultural debris was limited to dense flaking

debris and two projectile points. A Late Plains triangular unnotched

projectile point was recovered from 0-10 cm below the surface and a Late

Prehistoric side notched projectile point fragment was recovered at a depth

of 0-5 cm below the surface. No datable features were observed at this site

(Kelly Keim, personal communication, August 1983).
