Final Report on an Archaeological Survey of 880 Acres for the Tucson Aqueduct System Reliability Investigations Within the Avra Valley

Summary

Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. (ACS) conducted a cultural resource survey of 880 acres of private land located in the Tucson, Arizona area just south of Valencia Road approximately 4 miles west-southwest of Black Mountain. The survey, requested by the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), was undertaken to identify and assess the cultural resources that might be affected by the development of the Tucson Aqueduct System Reliability Investigations (TASRI) Reservoir. It was one of two tasks identified under Delivery Order No. 3-PD-32-01820-009 for the Class III Cultural Resource Surveys Contract (No. 1425-2-CS-32-01820); the other was survey of 320 acres on the adjacent Pascua Yaqui Reservation (DeMaagd 1993). The report of that survey can be found at the following link: https://core.tdar.org/document/393899

Eighteen sites and 77 isolated finds were identified on the TASRI survey. The findings of a geomorphological study were employed to assess site integrity and eligibility.
