EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL/DETRITAL CHARCOAL FROM LAHONTAN DAM, NEVADA

Author(s): Peter Kováčik

Year: 2015

Summary

Six bulk soil samples and nine detrital charcoal samples from site locations CR4, CR5, CR6, and CR7 along the Carson River, in the lower Carson River Basin, Nevada were analyzed to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon age determination. These samples were recovered from stream deposits near the Lahontan Dam and Reservoir (Jeanne Godaire, personal communication September 1, 2015). Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated prior AMS radiocarbon age determination.
