A Class III Section 110 Cultural Resources Survey of 970 Acres of Bureau of Reclamation Withdrawn Lands Along the Verde River, Prescott National Forest, Yavapai County, Arizona: Report

Summary

At the request of Reclamation, Logan Simpson conducted an intensive cultural resources survey of the project area to provide baseline cultural resource data to assist in the development of density models for planning and resource management purposes. The survey was conducted under PNF Permit No. PNF72 between November 17, 2015 and December 6, 2015.

Logan Simpson identified four previously recorded sites, 38 newly recorded sites. and 35 Isolated Occurrences. One site (AR-03-09-05-569) was previously determined eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) under Criterion A for its association with the electrification and development of the Phoenix area. Twenty-three prehistoric sites were recommended eligible for inclusion in the NRHP under Criterion D (AR-03-09-05-400, -05-720, -05-725, -05-727, 05-728, -05-731, -05-732, -05-738, 05-739, 05-740, -05-741, -05-742, -05-743, -05-744, -05-745, -05-746, 05-747, -05-748, 05-750, -05-751, 05-752, -05-754, and -05-756). Two historic sites (AR-03-09-05-56805-735) were recommended eligible for inclusion in the NRHP under Criterion D. One multi-component site was recommended eligible for inclusion in the NRHP under Criterion D. A formal recommendation of eligibility for 15 sites could not be made based on surface observations (AR-03-09-05-397, -05-724, -05-726, -05-729, 05-730, -05-733, -05-734, -05-736, -05-745, -05-749, -05-753, and -05-755). The remaining three sites, AR-03-09-05-722, -05-723, and -05-737 were recommended not eligible for inclusion in the NRHP.
