Summary
At the request of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District (Corps), ASC Group, Inc. (ASC), conducted National Historic Preservation Act Section 110 archaeological compliance surveys on Corps fee-title land at reservoirs in the Huntington District in Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia.
ASC was subcontracted to John Milner Associates, Inc. Shoreline surveys were carried out at Delaware Reservoir and North Branch of Kokosing Reservoir, Ohio, Beech Fork and East Lynn Reservoirs, West Virginia, and Yatesville Reservoir, Kentucky. Subsurface surveys of dam site and recreational areas were carried out at Dewey, Fishtrap, Grayson, Paintsville, and Yatesville Reservoirs in Kentucky; R.W. Flannagan Reservoir in Virginia; Alum Creek, Deer Creek, and Delaware Reservoirs in Ohio; and East Lynn and Summersville Reservoirs in West Virginia.
A total of 121 sites were surveyed including 117 newly located sites and four previously inventoried sites. Appropriate recommendations were made on sites threatened by erosion and potentially significant sites. This ARRA funded task order employed 28 specialists.
