Summary

This survey was made by the Columbia Basin Project of the River Basin Surveys under the direction of the Smithsonian Institution in accordance with the “Memorandum of Understanding” between the Smithsonian Institution and the National Park Service, approved October 9, 1945.

Hungry Horse Reservoir is a project of the Bureau of Reclamation, and is located on the South Fork of the Flathead River, in Flathead County, Montana.

The survey was made to determine the frequency of archeological sites in the reservoir area and to determine if there was any of major importance, which should be excavated prior to flooding.
