Samples from the fill of four hearth features at site MOC SD 3-4-2 and one hearth feature at 48SW10697(MOC WAM 2-4-18) were examined for macrofloral remains. These sites represent large prehistoric camps in southern Wyoming. The hearth from 48SW10697(MOC WAM 2-4-18) and one of the hearths from MOC SD 3-4-2 represent Middle Archaic occupations of the area with radiocarbon dates of 3810 ± 50 BP and 3620 ± 50 BP, respectively. Samples from six hearths at Site 5BLl53 in northern Colorado were examined for macrofloral remains. This site is a multicomponent site, and the hearths represent late Archaic, Middle Archaic, and late Prehistoric occupations. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information concerning woods used as fuel and plants processed at the site.

Samples from several sites in the Ancho Canyon Mine Area, New Mexico, were examined for macrofloral remains. This area appears to be one where several cultures overlapped. Radiocarbon dates range from 290 B.C. to A.D. 1870, representing Late Archaic through historic Jicarilla Apache occupations. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information concerning subsistence activities at these sites.

The floated light fractions from five samples at Site CA-SDI-13078 (Rhodes Crossing Project) were analyzed for macrofloral remains. This site is located in San Diego, California, and radiocarbon dates reflect Late Archaic and Late Prehistoric occupations. Samples were recovered from columns in two control units, one of which contained a small hearth. Macrofloral analysis is used to determine plant resources processed at the site, as well as wood burned as fuel.
