IDENTIFICATION OF BOTANIC REMAINS FROM HISTORIC UTE TEEPEE SITES NEAR THE 2ND LOS PINOS INDIAN AGENCY, COLORADO (2004)
Botanic remains from sites 5OR1062 and 5OR1065 in Ouray County, Colorado, were submitted for identification. These sites represent historic (1876-1881) Ute teepee encampments near the 2nd Los Pinos Indian Agency.
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT THE RIFLE WICKIUP VILLAGE, SITE 5GF308, WESTERN COLORADO (2004)
Fill from the west half of a hearth in a Ute wickiup at the Rifle Wickiup Village, site 5GF308, was floated to recover charred macrofloral remains that would indicate plant resources processed in the hearth. A wood fragment believed to represent a fuel source also was submitted for identification. Site 5GF308 is located northeast of Rifle, Colorado. This site is reported to contain more than 60 structures, most of which are the remains of Ute wickiups.
MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF HEARTH FILL FROM UTE TEEPEE ENCAMPMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2ND LOS PINOS INDIAN AGENCY NEAR MONTROSE, COLORADO (2003)
The fill from nine hearths associated with two Ute teepee encampments that were tethered to the 2nd Los Pinos Indian Agency near Montrose, Colorado, were examined for macrofloral remains. The teepee sites are believed to date between 1875 and 1881. One of the hearths might represent an unrelated prehistoric occupation or a dependency, such as a menstrual hut, for one of the lodges. POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT DEADMAN LAKE (SITE 42UN2331), ASHLEY NATIONAL FOREST, UTAH (2002)
Samples from site 42UN2331 in Ashley National Forest, northeastern Utah, were examined for pollen and/or macrofloral remains. This site is a high elevation site overlooking Deadman Lake in the Uinta Mountains and appears to represent early Fremont, mid-Fremont, and Ute occupation of the area. Pollen and macrofloral analysis is used to provide information concerning plant resources utilized by the various occupants of this site.

The Wyoming Archaeological Society Joseph Cramer Grant and the 1990 Archaeological Investigations at 48CR4001: The Espy-Cornwell Site, Carbon County, Wyoming (1994)
Archaeological excavations and research at 48CR4001 have been conducted from 1983 to 1993. The site, located approximately 16 miles south of Rawlins, Wyoming, is situated on the east face of a north-south trending exposure of Lance Formation sandstone. It is at an elevation of 2195 meters (7200 feet) above mean sea level (AMSL). Vegetation on the site is characteristic of a low sagebrush-grassland community.
