This dataset contains compositional (elemental abundance) and descriptive data for a total of 28 ceramic and clay specimens from Armenia analyzed by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). These data were generated by neutron activation analysis (NAA) at LBNL between the late 1960s and early 1990s. This project pertains to the compositional analysis of ceramic materials from Armenia. These data were generated by neutron activation analysis (NAA) at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) between the late 1960s and early 1990s. POLLEN ANALYSIS OF RESIDUE FROM TWO CERAMIC SHERDS FROM TSAGHKAHOVIT, ARMENIA (2012)

Two ceramic sherds representing a pot and a red bowl were recovered from Tsaghkahovit, Armenia. The cooking pot, recovered from locus 17, exhibited burning on the exterior of the body as well as residue on the inside. The small fineware bowl, found in locus 38, also contained residue on the inside. Residue was scraped from the inside of both of these intact ceramic vessels and submitted for pollen and starch analysis to determine their contents.

Thirty-five samples of sediment adhering to a variety of vessels and grinding stones from the site of Gegharot in Armenia were examined for pollen and phytoliths. Samples were obtained by washing the tools in the field, then submitting the washes to PaleoResearch Institute.
