Site 5PT86 is a lithic scatter located on the first terrace above the Fryingpan River at an elevation of 8120 feet, approximately 23 miles east of Basalt. Archaeological mitigation at this site opened several test pits, one of which was stratigraphically sampled for pollen. The pollen samples were taken every 10 cm to a depth of 80 cm in arbitrary levels for the purpose of assessing the paleoenvironment.
