EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL AND DETRITAL CHARCOAL FOR RADIOCARBON DATABLE MATERIAL FROM THE WASATCH FAULT ZONE, LEVAN SEGMENT, NEAR SKINNER PEAKS, UTAH (2004)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman.

A single bulk soil sample from the side of a shallow gully incised in the footwall of the Wasatch Fault, Levan segment, near Skinner Peaks, Utah, was floated to recover organic material suitable for radiocarbon analysis. Botanic components and charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated. A single charcoal sample from this location also was submitted for identification prior to radiocarbon analysis.

EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL AND MICROCHARCOAL EXTRACTION OF SAMPLES FROM THE JERD CREEK PALEOSEISMIC TRENCH SITE, NAPA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (2012)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman.

A total of six bulk soil samples were collected from a paleoseismic trench at the Jerd Creek trench site on the Berryessa section of the Green Valley Fault, California. These samples were examined for the presence of charred organic material suitable for AMS radiocarbon dating. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated. In the absence of larger-sized charred remains, four of the samples were extracted to recover...

EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL FOR RADIOCARBON DATABLE MATERIAL FROM THE ANTON SCARP AND CHEYENNE PLAINS PIPELINE TRENCHES, COLORADO (2005)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman.

Five bulk soil samples from the Anton Scarp and Cheyenne Plains Pipeline Trenches in eastern Colorado were submitted for particle size determination and were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. These samples were recovered from organic-rich silt representing modem or buried A soil horizons. Because these samples did not contain sufficient charred organic material for radiocarbon dating, dates were obtained on humates extracted from the soil.

EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL FOR RADIOCARBON DATABLE MATERIAL FROM THE GIBSON DAM SITE ON THE SUN RIVER, MONTANA (2005)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman.

A single bulk soil sample from along the Sun River near Gibson Dam in central Montana was floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. This sample was recovered from the Ab horizon at a depth of 15-20 cm. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.

EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL FOR RADIOCARBON DATABLE MATERIAL FROM THE MAPLETON MEGATRENCH, UTAH (2005)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman.

A total of 10 bulk soil samples from the Mapleton megatrench site on the Provo segment of the Wasatch fault zone, Utah, were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. One sample was collected from the trench, while the remaining nine samples were recovered from Boreholes B1 and B2. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.

POLLEN ANALYSIS OF A SEDIMENT SAMPLE COLLECTED IN ASSOCIATION WITH A BISON SKULL, WEATHERMEN DRAW, SOUTH-CENTRAL MONTANA (2005)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings.

A single soil sample was collected from a test unit at the Skull Site 1 in Weathermen Draw, south-central Montana. Weathermen Draw, owned by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management, is characterized by numerous deep canyons extending from a central ridge and plateau. Pollen analysis was conducted on this sample to establish a record of vegetation associated with the bison skull for which this site was named.

POLLEN, PHYTOLITH, AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF MIDDEN DEPOSITS AT SITE CA-MNT-831, CALIFORNIA (2006)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman. Linda Scott Cummings.

A single bulk soil sample from midden deposits in a trench profile on the Senior Housing Project portion of site CA-MNT-831 in Pacific Grove, Monterey County, California, was analyzed for pollen, phytoliths, and macrofloral remains. This site is currently the oldest known site on the Monterey Peninsula, with occupation primarily during Phase I of the Early Period. Many of the radiocarbon dates from this site fall between 5550-5770 years BP (Breschini and Haversat 2006:1). Pollen, phytolith,...

POLLEN, PHYTOLlTH, AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF A SAMPLE FROM EAST AGANA BAY, GUAM (2006)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman. Jaime Dexter.

A single sediment sample from the beach at East Agana Bay in Guam was collected and examined for evidence of pollen and phytoliths. A bulk sample was submitted to recover organics for an AMS radiocarbon date. The project area is one of the last undeveloped land plots fronting the beach, and, as expected, archaeological excavations yielded evidence of both Latte Phase and Pre-Latte Phase cultures. The sediment sample submitted for pollen and phytolith analysis was collected from a black,...
