This is an abstract from the "SAA 2019: General Sessions" session, at the 84th annual meeting of the Society for American Archaeology. In the late 1930s, a Works Progress Administration (WPA) crew under the direction of Albert H. Schroeder excavated Trash Mound No. 1, a Preclassic Colonial period deposit (A.D. 775-950) at the extensive Hohokam site of Pueblo Grande along the Salt River in Phoenix, Arizona.
