Soil samples and an asphaltum sample from Sites CA-SBA-671 and CA-SBA-677 on Vandenberg Air Force Base in California were analyzed for macrofloral remains. These sites represent coastal dune bluff sites overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information concerning possible plant resources that may have been utilized at these sites.
POLLEN ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENT AND GROUNDSTONE FROM SITE CA-SBA-1823, VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, CALIFORNIA (2000)
Pollen analysis was conducted on six samples from a prehistoric Chumash site (CA-SBA- 1823) in the western Santa Ynez Mountains. A cache of lithic tools that included groundstone was ·recovered. Pollen analysis of washes of two manos was compared with samples from the sediment within the rock cache, sediment outside the rock cache, and two modern control samples.
