Buffum

Buffum, Buf 3-4, (a.k.a. Indian Cemetery, Indian Church Road) is located on Buffum St. in the southern part of the City of Buffalo, Erie Co. It dates to the early 16th century. The ethnic affiliation is uncertain (Erie, Neutral, Wenro, Kahkwa?). The cemetery for the later Buffalo Creek Reservation was placed inside the village earth ring. Sample size = 133 (SUNY/Buffalo Marian E. White Museum = 103, Buffalo Museum of Science = 15, Museum of Anthropology, Univ. of Michigan = 15). These ceramic attributes were recorded in 1971.
