As part of Section 106 mitigation for the Avon Park Air Force Range World War II Airfield, HAER-like Level II documentation was performed. Documentation included large-format photographs, reduced plans, and a narrative history. Thirteen different components to the airfield were documented and the importance of the airfield to advancements in aviation military strategy were noted.

Giving an intimate history of the lands composing the Avon Park Bombing Range, this report is the result of the Avon Park Air Force Range participating in a program to identify and protect historic sites on government lands, particularly those located on their Air Force Range. The Bravo Central and Charlie Flank Towers score air-to-ground deliveries of ordnance on bombing and gunnery ranges. In addition to routine maintenance, one or more of the towers have their handrails, roofs, windows, and catwalk walking surfaces replaced.
