The Fort A.P. Hill Cultural Resource Manager, under the Environmental Division of the Directorate of Public Works within Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, completed Phase I archaeological survey in association with proposed forestry activities in 33 forestry blocks located in Training Areas 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 15, 25, and 30; Controlled Access Areas 18, 19, and 20; the Wildlife Refuge; and Range 71A, Fort A.P. Hill, Caroline County, Virginia.
The objective of the archaeological survey was to identify any historic properties that may be located within the proposed forestry blocks and evaluate the potential eligibility of any such resources for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Five previously recorded archaeological sites (44CE0301, 44CE0470, 44CE0473, 44CE0482, and 44CE0483) and 11 previously unrecorded archaeological sites (44CE0565, 44CE0566, 44CE0567, 44CE0568, 44CE0569, 44CE0570, 44CE0571, 44CE0572, 44CE0574, 44CE0578, and 44CE0579) were identified within the Project Area.
