Mary Ann Cole Site (12CR1) 1979-1981

Part of: US Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District VCP

Data recovery at the Mary Ann Cole Site (12CR1) in Crawford County, Indiana, consisted of archaeological excavations at the site and a geologic survey of lithic resources in nearby uplands. Excavations examined deposits consisting primarily of lithic refuse reflecting the manufacture of a variety of chert objects relating to the Late Archaic/Early Woodland transitional and Middle Woodland Periods. Materials indicated a lithic manufacturing locus composed entirely of waste products and broken or aborted bifaces at various stages of incompleteness. The project was supervised by John T. Dorwin (Myers 1981). In this investigation, there is one accession number, 3977, associated with site 12CR1.

The digital materials in this collection were processed by the Veterans Curation Program (VCP), and include the artifact database, artifact report, finding aid, oversized materials database, photographic material spreadsheet, scanned asset key, and select artifact photographs. Additional digital materials held by VCP include additional artifact photographs, box inventories, card stock inserts, document folder listing, GBL artifact catalog, GBL catalog, initial data collection, oversized labels, oversized materials spreadsheet, personal notes, and a records removal sheet. For additional information on these materials, refer to the Finding Aid.
