Archaeometric Studies in the Maya Area

In recent years a wide array of archaeometric studies have been used to approach questions regarding Maya cultural history. Research projects have been developed concerning both pre-Columbian and historical contexts. Quantitative techniques span interdisciplinary fields such as material sciences, geographical information systems, residue analyses, geoarchaeolgy, and environmental studies. Although methods might pertain to the so-called "hard sciences", research topics focus on cultural issues such as technological development, settlement patterns, use of narcotics, or anthropogenic impacts on the environment. Presentations are welcomed both in English and Spanish.
