Summary
A broken metate recovered grinding surface-side down at CA-Riv-150, located
in the city of La Quinta, California, was washed to recover pollen evidence of
food ground using this metate. In addition, control samples were examined from
the soil beneath the metate and one collected approximately 50 centimeters to the
east. The purpose of this analysis was to identify any foods that may have been
ground using the metate.
