Summary
Site 42SAl6262, radiocarbon dated to an age of 1340 ± 60 BP (610 AD),
consisted of a pithouse and a concentration of sherds and charcoal. The
site was located in the path of a proposed highway in San Juan County, Utah,
between Bluff and Blanding on the north side of Recapture Wash. The local
vegetation consists primarily of pinyon/juniper and grasses. Both pollen
and macrofloral samples were taken from the main room and antechamber of the
pithouse at this site in an effort to identify portions of the subsistence
base.
