Author(s): Thomas E. Moutoux; Kathryn Puseman; Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 1996
Summary
Site 5AH741 is a small, stratified site located southeast of Denver, Colorado.
Radiocarbon dates obtained from features at this site suggest both Middle and Late Archaic
occupations. A total of 27 samples were submitted for pollen/starch or macrofloral analysis. A
column consisting of seven stratigraphic pollen samples was included in this count. Three
surface control pollen samples provide an excellent base from which to evaluate the prehistoric
pollen record. The remaining pollen samples represent material washed from artifacts collected
at the site. Macrofloral analyses focused on material recovered from several pit features at
various stratigraphic levels. The information obtained from pollen and macrofloral analyses
provides insight into both available and utilized resources.
