CHARCOAL IDENTIFICATION AND AMS RADIOCARBON DATING OF A SAMPLE FROM FIRST LIGHT 2 SITE, BRISTOL COUNTY, MASSACHUSETTS
Author(s): Peter Kováčik
Year: 2014
Summary
The First Light 2 Site is one of four sites examined as part of the First Light Casino project, situated within the Cotley River drainage in Taunton, Bristol County, southeastern Massachusetts. None of these sites contained any diagnostic material to define the period of occupation. Fragments of fire-cracked rock, calcined bone, and charcoal were recovered from Feature 1. A charcoal sample collected from this feature was submitted for identification and subsequent AMS radiocarbon age determination to ascertain the period of occupation.
