Author(s): Joshua Watts; T. Kathleen Henderson
Year: 2004
Summary
This report presents the results of the archaeological survey of a 2.445-acre parcel of land on the northern side of Warner Road, west of Ellsworth Road, in southeastern Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona. The work was requested by the Salt River Project (SRP) to determine whether activities associated with the construction of an electrical substation will have an effect on significant cultural remains that might be present in the area. The substation site is located on Arizona State Trust Land, and a right-of-way application for use of the property has been submitted to the Arizona State Land Department (Application No. 16-108318). Kathleen Henderson, Ph.D., of Desert Archaeology, Inc., served as Principal Investigator for the project. Joshua Watts of Desert Archaeology completed the survey in one person-day on 20 August 2004, working under the authority of Arizona Antiquities Blanket Permit No. 2004-005bl (ASM Accession No. 2004-0758). Two isolated occurrences were identified during the pedestrian survey of the project area, but no significant cultural resources were found.
