Summary
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Kansas City District, archaeological collections were sent to the Veterans Curation Program’s (VCP) St. Louis laboratory in the fall of 2011. The St. Louis VCP laboratory is a USACE, St. Louis District’s Mandatory Center of Expertise for the Curation and Management of Archaeological Collections program, which is staffed through a contract with Statistical Research, Inc., a cultural resource management firm with offices throughout the western United States.
The procedures employed to rehouse the archaeological material from the Long Branch Lake Survey 1974–1978 investigation are discussed below and follow those procedures utilized by the St. Louis VCP laboratory. In the rehousing process of each investigative effort of the USACE, Kansas City District collection, the same standard procedures and Fort Osage guidelines were followed. Upon completion of the curation management project, the collection was sent to Fort Osage for permanent curation.
