Historic American Engineering Record of Launch Complex 19 Cape Canaveral Air Station, Cape Canaveral, Florida

Summary

Launch Complex 19 is a NHL due to the accomplishments of the Gemini project in the Man in Space program. The Air Force determined that restoration of Complex 19 was not possible due to rapid deterioration from the salty environment, in addition to its status as a safety hazard. The Air Force demolished the erector/service tower (erector) and remaining test stand. The "white room", an environmentally protected room atop the erector, was removed, restored, and relocated to Cape Canaveral's Complex 26. Complex 26 is listed as a NHL and currently serves as Cape Canaveral's space museum. This report documents the history of the project.
