Tyrone Mims Arbitrary (1BR?) 1988
Summary
The only information present with the Tyrone Mims Arbitrary (1BR?) 1988 investigation was the information written on the bags and the paper tags that arrived with the collection. No report was present for this collection and as a result who Tyrone Mims is, or was, has not been established. It is highly likely that Tyrone Mims was a local man residing around the Walter F. George Lake property and in August of 1988 collected a group of prehistoric ceramics from a wildlife refuge in Barbour County, Alabama. Though the specific wildlife refuge is not identified on the artifact bags the most probable candidate is the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge, which borders the northwestern part of Walter F. George Lake. Much of the refuge is leased from USACE, thus making the care and preservation of these artifacts USACE’s responsibility. This collection was donated to the Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts by an unknown individual, possibly Tyrone Mims.
The digital materials in this collection were processed by the Veterans Curation Program (VCP), and include the artifact database, artifact report, finding aid, scanned asset key, and select artifact photographs. Additional digital materials held by the VCP include additional artifact photographs, a box inventory, document folder listing, initial data collection, personal notes, and preliminary inventory. For additional information on these materials, refer to the Finding Aid.
