Gregg Shoals (9EB259) and Clyde Gulley (9EB387) 1980-1984

Summary

This collection is referred to as “Gregg Shoal (9EB259) and Clyde Gulley (9EB387) Sites 1980-1984.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is one and a quarter (1.25) linear inches.

The documents date from 1980 to 1984. The documents were originally stored in acidic folders in an acidic cardboard box with numerous collections from the Richard B. Russell Multiple Resource Area. The documents were originally lacking a discernible order. The documents were in good condition, but metal contaminants were found throughout the collection. All metal contaminants were removed from the documents.

The interim report and the final report were found online at Georgia’s Natural, Archaeological, and Historic Resources Geographic Information System, (www.gnahrgis.org). The Georgia Archaeological Site File Report Number for the interim report is 6204 and the Georgia Archaeological Site File Report Number for the final report is 695. Digital copies of the files were downloaded from the website and saved as part of the digital collection. Each item was assigned an asset number for tracking purposes, but copies were not printed. The documents were housed in a Report Records folder (Folder 7/1).

The collection contains two copies of an oversized map from the investigation area that required flattening and smoothing. The documents were placed in the oversized storage.

The collection contained two photographic prints from the field records. The photographic prints were assigned to a folder and removed for permanent storage in an archival binder.

The digital materials in this collection were processed by the Veterans Curation Program (VCP), and include archival photographs, finding aid, original investigation report, oversized material database, photographic material spreadsheet, and scanned asset key. Additional digital materials held by the VCP include the archives database, correspondence, document folder listing, initial data collection, interim report, maps, memorandums, monthly reports, notes, oversized labels, photographic material labels, photographic slide labels, proposals, records removal sheet, a safety plan, scope of work, and a transmittal form. For additional information on these materials, refer to the finding aid.
