The Paleoindian Archaeology and Late Pleistocene/Early Holocene Shorelines on Department of Defense (DoD) Installations project maps were developed to aid DoD cultural resource managers identifying potential locations of sites that might yield evidence of Paleomaritime or aquatic culture. This report describes the GIS techniques and datasets employed to generate the maps.

A small percentage of the maps reproduced from field data can be found in the series of published DAP reports, but a much larger collection of original material can be accessed via the Anasazi Heritage Center, Colorado. The maps dataset allows users to easily know what maps are available for any provenience. The USACE, Louisville District obtained the collection through an archaeological test excavation at the Mary Ann Cole Site in 1976. Mary Ann Cole Site was situated on a fluvial terrace of the Ohio River where the Blue River joins it in Crawford County in Indiana. With the discovery of the site, test excavation were undertaken to define the site and locate features. The site’s western boundary was indefinable due to the presence of the abandoned Corp of Engineers Lock and Dam No. 44 structures....
