The University of New Mexico's Office of Contract Archaeology has completed an archaeological clearance survey for the proposed construction of a Repeater Tower, a Receiver Site and a proposed powerline, 0.8 miles long. This survey was requested by KNME-TV (Channel 5) to determine the presence or absence of any archaeological material that may be impacted from construction.

The Center for Anthropological Studies has recently completed an intensive field survey of an approximate 7.5 square mile area of Kirtland Air Force Base. Archaeological information was recorded from 19 non-site loci and 16 prehistoric and/or historic sites. POLLEN AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 42KA4280, SOUTHERN UTAH (1999)

Sediment samples from two pit house features at Site 42KA4280 in southern Utah were analyzed for pollen and macrofloral remains. One corn cob fragment also was measured. Ceramic artifacts suggest occupation of the site during the Basketmaker III period. The two pit houses represent two occupation episodes. Pollen and macrofloral analyses are used to provide information concerning plant resources available to and utilized by the site occupants.
