The Orme Alternatives Project, which is part of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's Central Arizona Project, was implemented in order to examine possible alternatives to the proposed Orme Dam and Reservoir. As reported by Canouts (1975), the proposed Orme Reservoir Project would have an extremely adverse impact upon the cultural resources of central Arizona.
