In late February 2001, a wildfire burned approximately 4,000 acres of the Poinsett Electronic Combat Range. A letter written by Chuck Cantley of the South Carolina State Gistoric Preservation Office to Natalie Adams of New South Associates. The letter concurs with the assessment of site 38SU106 and the possible impact of tree removal within the site boundaries.
