EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL FOR RADIOCARBON DATABLE MATERIAL FROM TRENCHES ACROSS ACTIVE FAULTS IN NORTHEASTERN NEVADA (2001)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman.

A total of nine bulk soil samples recovered from sediments exposed in trenches excavated across active faults in northeastern Nevada were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. Radiocarbon ages would be used to place quantitative bounds on the ages of prehistoric earthquakes that have occurred along the faults. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.
