Sediment samples were collected from the Jacks Valley Trench and the Peavine Trench across active normal faults in Nevada with the purpose of gaining insight into earthquake activity. These sediment samples were examined to recover organic material suitable for AMS radiocarbon dating. Several types of charred macrofloral remains were noted in the Jacks Valley Trench sample.
