The Alaska Radar System (ARS), which currently consists of 15 active Long Range Radar Sites (LRRS) throughout Alaska, is an essential component of North America’s air defense. It provides air space surveillance, early warning against attack, intercept control, and navigational assistance to both military and civilian aircraft.
