San Xavier Santa Cruz Bank Stabilization Project
Part of: USDI Bureau of Reclamation, PXAO, Tohono O'Odham Nation, San Xavier District
The Santa Cruz River Bank Stabilization Project began in 1996, and aimed to curb the loss of arable lands on the San Xavier District attributable to the erosion of the river banks. The project included redirection of the Santa Cruz River channel, and stabilization of the existing banks by the placement, and compaction of fill dirt along the vertical face of the bank.
