Sapelo Island
This collection contains the digital resources for all Georgia Department of Natural Resoures Historic Preservation Division's (GA DNR HPD) records pertaining to Sapelo Island. It also includes some materials maintained by members of the Sapelo Island Archaeological Research Consortium.
The collection is divided into subcollections based on sites that GA DNR HPD manages on Sapelo Island. The following subcollections correspond to archaeological sites: Bank Stabilization/ Spalding's Long Tabby, Behaviour Cemetery, Bourbon Field, Chocolate, Gullah Geechee, Lighthouse, Mission Archaeology, Pumpkin Hammock, Raccoon Bluff, and Shell Ring. One subcollection labeled Sapelo Island General/Miscellaneous Resources contains additional materials related to archaeological research, cultural resource management, and/or volunteer events that GA HPD DNR conducts on the island.
