Summary

A single Latte period pottery sherd from an archaeological deposit at Susupe, Saipan

was submitted for pollen, starch and phytolith analysis of the charred residue on the interior

(Table 1). In addition, organic residues that had penetrated the ceramic fabric were identified

using an FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer).
