Part of the North Atlantic Biocultural Organization (NABO) project
Author(s): Ramona Harrison
Year: 2008
Summary
Analysis of the Hofstaðir (HST) artifacts made from faunal materials was carried out in January of 2008.
Goal of this assessment was to understand better the source materials that were used in bone artifact manufacture. A second aim of this exercise was to see how much of the worked bone material could be assigned to categories more specific than just sea mammal vs. terrestrial mammal, and large animal vs. smaller animal.
